Shurtape CP-901 Steep Pipe Masking Tape is the first high-temperature masking tape in the industry which is designed specifically for steel pipe coating applications. The tape is coated with a solvent rubber adhesive system that is purpose-built to perform at elevated temperatures yielding quick "stick" performance, excellent adhesion to the hot pipes, and easy, residue-free removal (also no charring of the tape). It also has a special cured release system which ensures it adheres well to itself, preventing coating damage caused by loose tape ends. In addition to these important characteristics, CP 901 is also splice free, providing excellent strength while reducing the number of breaks, and it is shear cut resulting in a clean, sharp coating edge. Shurtape's CP 901 steel pipe masking tape is designed to offer optimum performance in the three most important criteria for oil & natural gas steel pipe coating applications: it applies quickly, takes the heat effectively, and removes cleanly.

CP 901 has been field-evaluated and approved by various pipe coaters using the Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating process, which is used by the majority of pipe coaters in North America. It has also been evaluated in high-speed FBE, as well as the longer duration Fusion Bonded Epoxy and Abrasion Resistant Overcoat (FBE + ARO) process. It can mask powder coating on steel pipes at 450-475F for short time durations (1-2 minutes) and up to 350F for longer time durations. High initial tack on the tape enables quick and secure tabbing onto pipes and its backing prevents corrosion coating from being deposited on the pipe ends.
