1. Confirm the door frame is steel and the door is not a fire-rated door or emergency exit.
2. Turn the door lock to the locked position.
3. Place the magnet over the strike plate on the door jamb so the latch cannot catch.
4. Close the door. It stays closed and unlatched for normal entry while remaining locked.
5. To lock down, open the door a few inches, pull the magnet off the strike plate, and close the door so it latches and locks.
6. Keep the magnet stored near the door for quick access.
