NO LOCAL POWER AT ALL REQUIRED ON THE REMOTE SIDE - The supplied 48 V adapter plugs into the master unit, and that is the only power socket in the whole link. The two wires carry that power down the run together with the data. The remote unit not only powers itself from those same two wires - nothing plugs into it, there is no mains outlet at that end - it also has power left to give away, supplying IEEE 802.3 af or 802.3 at PoE at 48 V out of its own RJ45 port. So an IP camera, wireless access point, access-control reader or door intercom at the remote end switches on with no electrician, no socket and no second adapter.
88 TO 100 Mbit/s LINK RATE, CSMA/CD, TRANSPARENT TO PROTOCOL - The RJ45 ports negotiate 10/100/1000BASE-T; the throughput across the 2-wire span is 88 to 100 Mbit/s depending on cable and distance. The pair behaves as a transparent Layer 1 segment - VLAN tags, DHCP, RTSP camera streams and NVR discovery all pass unaltered.
SUPPLIED AS SET OF FIVE ITEMS - Master unit, remote unit, two BNC-to-wire-pin adapters, one 48 VDC power supply and a printed manual. The two units are identical hardware; the master takes the power supply, the remote draws everything it needs from the line. All you add is the two wires between them and a short patch cord at each end.

Power consumption is under 3 W per unit and the input accepts 12 VDC or 48-56 VDC. On very long or thin-gauge runs, where the line voltage at the remote has dropped too far, feeding 12 VDC locally at both units restores headroom. Built-in ESD protection on the line terminals.
