tesa 53398 is a high strength mono-filament strapping tape engineered for metal coil securement, splicing, and heavy duty bundling. Monodirectional glass fiber filaments laminated to a polyester (PET) film backing provide 800 N/cm (456.8 lbs/in) tensile strength at just 195 microns (7.7 mils) total thickness.
The synthetic rubber adhesive delivers high initial tack and strong shear resistance, and bonds reliably to steel and other metal surfaces even when they are slightly oily. Adhesion to steel is 6 N/cm (54.8 oz/in).
Excellent aging properties and clean removal from many substrates mean the tape can be pulled without leaving residue behind, eliminating the cleanup step on coils and finished metal goods.
Common uses include end-tabbing and securing metal coils, splicing coils for processing, bundling and reinforcing heavy goods such as metal pipe, and stabilizing heavy loads for transport. Supplied for industrial and professional use.
