- Use on a level surface: Always use a jack stand on flat, stable ground. For an automatic transmission vehicle, put the gear in park. For a manual transmission vehicle, put it in first gear.
- Apply the parking brake: To ensure your vehicle does not roll, engage the parking brake and use wheel chocks.
