- TWO-WAY VENTING: When a diesel fuel tank cap is loose, a vented pressure tank cap vents pressure inside the tank to the outside and releases dangerous vapor buildup to prevent over-expansion of the diesel fuel tank. The vented tank cap allows air to enter the diesel transfer case to prevent a vacuum from forming and collapsing the tank when pumping out fuel.
