Question 1

Should I get the newer ROG Strix Scope II RX instead of the ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition?

Accepted Answer

Choose the ROG Strix Scope II RX if you want the newer generation's updated design, detachable wrist rest, improved keycap profile, and newer software and control features. Choose the EVA Edition if you specifically want its Evangelion styling, full-size wired layout, USB passthrough, and established ROG RX optical switch design. The Scope II RX is the more feature-focused choice, while the EVA Edition is better suited to buyers who value the special-edition design and original Scope RX feature set.

Question 2

Is the EVA Edition worth choosing over the regular ROG Strix Scope RX?

Accepted Answer

Choose the EVA Edition when the Evangelion-themed purple design, themed keycaps, and collectible presentation matter to you. In core keyboard capability, the two models are closely related: both use ROG RX optical mechanical switches, offer a full-size 100% layout, per-key RGB lighting, USB passthrough, programmable keys, and IP57 protection. The regular Scope RX is the more practical choice when you want the same basic platform without paying extra for themed styling or limited-edition details.

Question 3

Should I buy the ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition or the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless?

Accepted Answer

Choose the ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition if you want a traditional full-size layout, wired USB performance, USB passthrough, IP57 water and dust resistance, and the EVA-themed design. Choose the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless if you prefer a smaller 96% layout, wireless 2.4GHz or Bluetooth connectivity, hot-swappable switches, sound-dampening materials, and an included wrist rest. The EVA Edition prioritizes full-size usability and themed styling, while the Scope II 96 Wireless prioritizes flexibility and desk space.

Question 4

Is the ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition suitable for a portable gaming setup?

Accepted Answer

It is better suited to a permanent desktop setup than frequent transport because it is a full-size, wired keyboard measuring approximately 440 millimeters wide and weighing about 1.06 kilograms. For portability, a compact 96%, tenkeyless, or wireless keyboard is easier to pack and gives more desk flexibility. Choose the EVA Edition for consistent wired gaming and full access to the number pad; choose a compact wireless model when reducing cable clutter and carrying size is more important.

Question 5

Do I need software to use the macros, RGB lighting, and saved profiles?

Accepted Answer

Basic keyboard input works through USB, but Armoury Crate is used to configure RGB effects, remap keys, create macros, and manage profiles. The keyboard can store up to five profiles onboard, allowing saved settings to remain available without reconfiguring them each time.

Question 6

Is this keyboard suitable for office work, note-taking, and everyday typing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it can be used for office work and note-taking because it is a full-size mechanical keyboard with a standard USB connection. However, it is designed primarily for gaming, so its RGB lighting, macros, extended Ctrl key, and wired format may be unnecessary for users who want a simple, compact, or quiet work keyboard.

Question 7

Is this combo good for travel or a portable work setup?

Accepted Answer

It is better suited to a permanent desk setup than frequent travel. The full-size keyboard is wired and includes a USB passthrough connection, which adds desk utility but reduces portability. The included Bluetooth mouse is easier to use away from a desk, but the keyboard still requires a USB connection.

Question 8

Is the ASUS EVA keyboard and mouse combo wireless?

Accepted Answer

The keyboard is wired and connects by USB. The included mouse is listed with Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, so the set combines a wired keyboard with a wireless-capable mouse rather than providing a fully wireless desktop setup.

Question 9

Does the keyboard have spill or water resistance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The keyboard is rated IP57 for water and dust resistance, which adds protection against common spills and debris. It should still be treated as water-resistant rather than designed for deliberate soaking or use in wet environments.

Question 10

Is this bundle suitable for FPS gaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with trade-offs. The keyboard has RX Red linear optical switches, an extended Ctrl key, onboard profiles, and a wired connection. The included right-handed Keris mouse has a 16,000 DPI sensor, but its 79-gram weight is higher than many lightweight FPS mice, so ultra-light mouse users may prefer another option.
