As this is a refurbished laptop I'm curious as to how the battery life on it is? Also would it be possible to get windows 7 installed instead of windows 8?

Hi Ryan, The unit looked brand new in a new manufacturer's box. If not disclosed, it would have been believed to be new.

I believe Asus buys Windows in bulk and installs it in bulk using an .msi file pushed from a server. I doubt that they bought a license for Windows 7. Your 8 license would be tied to that unit as it is already validated for your SSID.

Also, there may not be drivers available for Windows 7. You'd want to check that in advance. Hardware manufacturers don't normally make drivers for retrofitting and this machine was made for Windows 8.

Either Google "make Windows 8 look like Windows 7" and install that utility which is very popular, or get your free version of Windows 10 which does look more like 7. 8 is superior to 7 for speed and stability IMHO.

US. You'd need a European adapter. Very nice computer, by the way. I'm really happy with mine.

Is this a decent laptop for gaming?

This is a nice laptop for light gaming (such as Sims or F.E.A.R) but if you want to play heavier games (like Ark) the laptop would probably have some trouble handling it. Usually a core i5 or i7 processor would be better for gaming, but if you want a nice affordable laptop for more than just gaming I would suggest this laptop.

it has 2 RAM slots. If you have enough money and someone to make it, RAM is limitless

The battery life is usually about 3-4 hours depending on how much you have running. As for getting Windows 7, I haven't personally tried it, but I'm sure you can as a friend of mine has.
