Does this have a backlit keyboard?

Yes it does. When you have it plugged in it'll light up, unplugged it will light up if you are using the keyboard.  The laptop is good for work up to 5-3 hrs depending on what you do.  2-1 hrs while gaming. Keep your charger with you.

It is a nice white light around each key, with the key symbol illuminated as well. It only appears when active.

Is this the 3rd or 4th gen I5 chip?

The laptop works with WIDI - so I can show second screen on my LG TV over wifi. Win 8.1

I think that makes it 4th edition. CPU is listed as i5-3337U @1.8Ghz

What is the battery life and how many cells does it have?

It last for about 5-3 hrs if your plan on browsing, office work, movies.  2-1 hrs for gaming like league, hearthstone, etc.
