does this work with windows 7 ?

The top slot connects only through the SATA cable so it should work on any motherboard with a SATA connection. Windows 7 and nearly any OS that is capable of seeing a SATA drive. The card itself must show up in your BIOS for the bottom NVME slot to function. So far, it does not show up on my motherboard. (MSI from 2012)
