This 2-in-1 converter adapts M.2 NVMe/SATA SSD into standard SFF-8639 U.2 drive form factor, only for devices equipped with native U.2 host port (PCIe signal bus).
It is a passive wiring riser board without any protocol conversion chip inside:
- When inserting SATA M.2 SSD: It transmits SATA signal to dual-mode U.2 port (motherboard U.2 must support SATA signal to detect drive)
- When inserting NVMe M.2 SSD: It transmits PCIe NVMe signal to U.2 PCIe host port only, CANNOT translate PCIe NVMe signal to SATA bus at all
