Important Installation Notes: -
Installation Position: Inner side of each rear taillight (left and right universal).
- Programming Requirement: Must be programmed with Ford IDS or J2534 diagnostic tool after installation this step is mandatory to avoid fault codes and ensure normal operation.
- Compatibility Precondition: Only applicable for vehicles with factory-installed BLIS (Blind Spot Information System). Step-by-Step Installation Guide1.
Prepare Tools & Materials: Gather a screwdriver (Phillips/flat-head, match your taillight fasteners), a clean cloth, and a Ford IDS/J2534 diagnostic tool (required for programming). Park the vehicle on a flat surface, turn off the engine, and remove the ignition key to avoid electrical risks. 2.
Remove the Rear Taillight: Locate the rear taillight (left/right, same steps for both). Use the screwdriver to remove the securing screws/clips. Gently pull the taillight outward (avoid damaging the wiring harness connected to it). 3.
Access the Installation Position: With the taillight removed, find the sensor mounting position (inner side of the taillight assembly, near the vehicle center). Clean the surface with a cloth to remove dust/debris for a secure fit. 4.
Install the Sensor: Align the JC3Z14C689A sensor with the mounting holes. Secure it with original or included screws. Ensure its firm (wobbling affects performance). 5.
Connect the Connector: Plug the sensors 8-pin waterproof connector into the vehicles corresponding wiring harness. Ensure its fully seated and locked (prevents water ingress/fault codes). 6.
Reinstall the Rear Taillight: Reposition the taillight, align with mounting holes, and reattach screws/clips. Double-check alignment (no gaps between taillight and vehicle body). 7.
Mandatory Programming (Critical Step): Turn on ignition (dont start the engine). Connect Ford IDS/J2534 tool to the OBD-II port (under the dashboard). Follow tool instructions to program/match the sensor to the vehicles module. Skipping this step causes fault codes and sensor failure. 8.
Test the Sensor: After programming, start the vehicle. Drive at 20 mph (32 km/h) and check if the blind spot indicator (side mirrors) works when a vehicle enters the blind spot. If not, recheck the connector/programming or contact our after-sales team.
