R74B 5.0 is a U. 2 hard drive enclosure, while R74C is a U. 3 hard drive enclosure. They are not compatible with each other. Please note the distinction. Why does the casing get very hot during use? Hard drives generate heat during use. The hard drive enclosure uses a CNC aluminum alloy casing and transfers heat from the SSD to the casing via a thermal pad, so the casing will be a little hot.
