So does this have a CPU in it already?  It says supports up to, so that makes me think it does not.

Question 2

Has anyone had a problem with the built-in wireless port? I installed Win8.1-64 and even though the device driver for the wireless installed just fine, it says there is no connection(the wireless access point is 10 feet away from the computer!!).

We use this PC daily.  I connect to a Xfinity (Comcast) dual band   Business Wireless Gateway WiFi unit which is a Cisco model DPC3939B 802.11 b/g/n.  The unit is on a lower level 25 feet away.  It will only connect at 2.4 ghz and does not recognize the 5.0 ghz band.  My Dell Laptop allows me to connect to either band and gives both networks as a connection choice. It has been 6 months without any problems.  If your access point is working at 802.11 G and you can verify that with other equipment, then maybe your nT-iBT19 is defective.  Good luck.

I'm having very frustrating issues with this machine, I'm on my second one because the first was most definitely defective. I've done everything the posts say, including changing the jumper to accommodate DDR3 memory (8GB) and it is recognized in the BIOS. I have set the boot order to UEFI CD/DVD, then USB CD/DVD, then UEFI Hard Drive. I have disabled the default UEFI shell boot. The computer will only boot from one DVD, the windows 7 64bit DVD. All other bootable discs are ignored and it brings up the shell. When I boot into the Windows Setup disc, it goes up to the Windows rotating symbol page and then freezes with a red bar across the top of the screen. Both of the systems do/did this. I'm at a loss, is this one defective as well?

Well the problems are solved.  I did RMA out the machine but had the same problems on the new one, until Tech Support at FoxConn gave me a walk through of how to flash the BIOS using the UEFI interface with a USB drive.  However, this was no easy task.  Through much labor and frustration, I found out that the UEFI wants nothing else on the flash drive but the bios, in the root directory even though the instructions from FoxConn said you could put it in a subdirectory.  After a 6 hour work day on the machine, it has the most current version of windows which allows you to select Windows 7 as your OS (it defaults to Win 8) and works quite well.  Thanks to everyone who helped.

Does this support Full-Size mSATA, or just Half-Size mSATA?

I did eventually put an mSATA drive inside, in addition to a regular SSD drive.  Both work fine and I can boot from either (Ubuntu).

Question 5

For anyone running this product, what is your impression of how noisy it is? I'm thinking about getting one to run two virtual machines as a firewall / router. I know it won't be silent due to the CPU fan, but if it emits a high pitched whine when under moderate load, it would be great to know before purchase. Thank you.

I replaced 2 household PC's with these units (mounted to the back of the screens) and the noise level is a lot less than the PC's that I replaced.  I wouldn't describe the noise level as high-pitched -- it's more of a low level white noise / background noise.  I rarely have it under load though, so I can't say what it might sound like running multiple virtual machines.  Sometimes I can hear the variable fan speed kicking into a higher gear, and it definitely gets louder when that happens.  Overall, I've been pleased with these as household PC's for light workloads.

I can't boot to a Windows 7 installation DVD with a usb optical drive. Any suggestions?

type exit in the shell uefi command

do this twice and you will get into the actual foxcon efi

there you need to adjust a few boot settings to get it to actually use the boot order, important, disable the default boot into efi shell

newegg lists the compatible ram as DDR3 1333 
Intel for the Intel Celeron J1900  lists compatible ram as DDR3L-1333
Foxconn, on their web site lists compatible ram as One SO-DIMM Socket support DDR3L 1333MHz up to 8GB

Is DDR3L required?  I already have DDR3.  This is kinda important, especially as the unit is not returnable.

There is a DDR3/DDR3L jumper inside. The manual says:
Set the jumper to pins 1-2, it set to DDR3L, the DDR3L Power is 1.35V.
Set the jumper to pins 2-3, it set to DDR3, the DDR3 Power is 1.5V.

This is true for the nI-iBT18 as well.

Just received this unit the other day and getting it setup I've found a small issue.

I'm running Ubuntu Server 14.04.2 LTS with SSH configured and working. It's using a wireless keyboard and connected via HDMI to my TV.

I am trying to get this thing setup as a headless server and during my tests I've found that; once I unplug the keyboard and power up everything is fine. However, if I unplug the HDMI connected to it the foxconn doesn't boot (I cannot receive a ping or SSH into the unit).

While it's powered but not responding I reconnected the HDMI cable but I still do not receive a signal to my TV leaving me to have to hard power it off. I reconnected everything and boot back up and Ubuntu loads and runs just fine. It seems to not like not having a monitor connected.

I have checked through the BIOS and so far the only obvious thing was the Halt option. I changed that from "All Errors but Keyboard" to "No Errors" without any luck. What else am I missing to get this thing to be headless?

Well after many hours of troubleshooting it came down to the following; LEGEND --No Change made <>Change made Press DEL to enter the BIOS Under BOOT; Select CSM CONFIGURATION <>CSM Support: ENABLED --Boot option filter: UEFI AND LEGACY <>Network: LEGACY <>Storage: LEGACY <>Other PCI devices: LEGACY --OS Selection: WINDOWS 8.X I happened to make these changes all at once (after I put all prior changes back to factory defaults) and it now boots without a monitor plugged in. At this point I'm tired of troubleshooting this item so I'm not worried about narrowing it down any further to find out if the actual fix was setting the Network/Storage/Other to LEGACY or if it only required setting CSM SUPPORT to enabled. It's now booting without a monitor or keyboard without any issues and I have intentionally caused my PC to crash to verify it will still boot up without user interaction. After 15-30 seconds from power on my server is running and responding over the network.
