Does this include a network card with a port for a cat-5 network cable?

What programs are pre installed? How about anti virus?

there arent alot of extra programs just the basics that come with windows such as paint wordpad notepad calculator etc. I think it came with a free trial of mcafee but no full antivirus, although asus makes solid computers and this particular model runs very quiet and smooth.  It has 2 seperate hard drives to make backing up data simple.  I am quiete pleased with the computer but if you want one that has alot of extra programs pre-installed you might want to keep looking.

Are the front two USB 3.0 ports compatible with a USB 2.0 stick or drive???

Yes. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible to USB 2.0. You existing thumbdrives will work on the front facing USB ports.

Is the space directly below the top Optical Drive actually AVAILABLE to add a 2nd Optical Drive?  It is difficult to tell from pictures provided and there are no internal pictures of case.

Elvis P - I really can't answer that for right now.  I purchased this system to use in a Veterans Non-Profit where I  am a member.  We have no need of "expanding" the system, so I really haven't checked inside.  But from the limited documentation provided by ASUS, I don't think that you can add the additional optical drive.  Hope this helps
