Can I use this to help upgrade my smaller M.2 SSD to a larger capacity (via cloning) ?

Hello! To be honest with you that item don't even work. Don't waste your time looking at that item nor the money on that. I brought mine like a month ago to clone my ssd hard drive to ssd m.2 hard drive. It suppose to light up when it's connected but nothing happens at all. I don't even understand why would Newegg post this on their website. Don't work at all!! I was able to clone my ssd m.2 hard drive without that non-working device. It's really simple. You need to get ssd cloning cable from Corsair. It will work perfectly to what you are trying to do. The same thing I use to clone my ssd m.2 hard drive. It works awesome!

Question 2

Does anyone know if this is B-key or M-key?  I see it was asked before and not understood.  B-key has 6 pins before notch, M-key has 5 pins before notch.  B+M has two notches on the socket at opposite sides.

Just to confirm for all, this is a B-keyed slot inside and does not support M-key or PCIe devices.  This is mentioned on the product page of the black model, but not for this one.

will this work with a samsung pm951 ssd drive?

It should but it would be a waste as the USB interface will reduce the transfer speeds to SATA 6Gb/sec, a big drop from the PCIe 4X. Best value for this enclosure is a large, cost effective SATA M.2 ssd. I get about 3-350 MB/sec transfer rate using an older sata M.2 from 2014.  Don't expect to get full SATA speeds due to the SATA-USB bridge adding some overhead, but it will still be a much better value than buying an expensive high speed USB key. Trade off is its larger physical size, but not so big it not portable.

Question 4

what channels? b, m, or b and m..very important-why is that not listed??

This is a M.2 disc enclosure. So I am not sure what channels would apply. It is designed to work with the 4 most populare card lengths which I believe is listed. I put a 1t samsung in mine for data storage. Still very fast even with the USB 3 bottle neck.
