Live to Build
Build to Live

The design concept for D-Frame 2.0 originates from the freedom, individuality and impulsive nature of off-road motorcycles. The combination of steel tubing, anti-flip foot pads with deep tire treads, a power supply in the shape of an air-cooled engine and tempered glass is perfect fusion of art and technology.

Handcrafted Metallic Tubing Structure

Expertly bent tubing is entirely crafted by human hands. TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding is used to reinforced stability, and unique electrode position, which creates an ultra-smooth finish! The motherboard mounting tray is sandblasted to achieve a refined metallic texture. Every detail reflects the aesthetics of craftsmanship.

Innovative Two-Way Open Design with Quick-Release Fasteners

The outer frame features a unique two-way open design. With its quick-release fasteners, D-Frame 2.0 allows for easier assembling and custom display platforms.

Nice Looking, but Quality Control problems 7/15/2017 9:36:32 AM

Pros: The case looks really nice and is fairly light weight.

Cons: InWin seems to have some quality control problems.
Cheaply made plastic parts.

Overall Review: I bought this case direct from InWin as Newegg is perpetually out of stock. I ordered the product on 11 July 2017 and received it on 15 July 2017. Unfortunately, when I unboxed the case I quickly discovered that one of the quick release pins were broken. This isn't a situation where the shipper (FEDEX) damaged it, as the box was in almost pristine condition. Broken parts are something I may expect in a $60 case, but not in a case that cost this much money.

In Win D-Frame 2.0 3/31/2017 6:07:26 AM

Pros: I have the Previous D-Frame case still in use. This is a great case for wire management and cooling.

Cons: Way over priced! The feet are a constant source of problem have had to replace several times. The power supply in this case is a big problem shouldn't be proprietary very bad idea.

Gorgeous case with plenty space 2/28/2017 9:16:01 PM

Pros: It's spacious and easy to build in.
This thing is well built and just radiates luxury, it's guaranteed to be the first thing someone notices in a room.

Cons: The back mount is designed for the proprietary PSU, if the PSU breaks you're up the creek.

Overall Review: This thing is BIG, I feel like it was made especially for people who like to live big.
if opulence is your style then this is the thing for you.

Got the Big Stuff Right but Overlooked the Little Things 1/13/2017 7:39:16 AM

Pros: - Beautiful/unique aesthetics and craftsmanship. This is more than a box that houses your computer parts!
- Accessing the internals is super easy. The glass panels on both sides are secured by big, custom gold thumbscrews that can be handled effortlessly.
- Capable of housing large motherboards, which extends the utility of this case beyond your current build. For a case as expensive as the H-Frame, this could be a big deal.
- Almost completely silent. For an open-air case packed with a 1065W power supply, it barely makes a whisper.
- Includes pre-wired ports on the front panel for easy access.

Cons: - Cabling seemed like an afterthought. For a case that's transparent and designed to showcase the internals of a computer, this deserved much more attention than it got. It will unfortunately complicate the installation of custom cooling solutions.
- The set of cables bundled with the case were basic. There are much better custom cabling options available on the market. In Win should have had custom cables designed for this case in the same way they had a custom PSU designed for it.
- The cables also weren't labeled, and in some cases, weren't long enough to comfortably reach headers on the motherboard or be neatly tucked away around the case.
- The user manual was pretty terrible. It did little to actually explain anything and was more of a brochure than a manual. I would suggest putting in URLs to online installation videos linked with QR codes. That's something other manufacturers are doing and it really does simplify explanations greatly.

Overall Review: Overall, the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion.

Awesome case! 12/17/2016 7:01:02 AM

Pros: This is a top of the line case with a high price tag, but you do get what you pay for! Much thought given to the position and length of front panel wires, making hookup a breeze. Very solidly built overall. Power supply is a nice touch to the overall aesthetics of this case.

Cons: Disappointed with In-Win customer support. Emailed them about the side glass panel not clearing my cpu cooler, and hoped they had some slightly longer bolts to extend the panel out a few mm for clearance. They responded quickly, but offered no help other than to say they don't have any longer bolts. It seems like if you are spending $1000 plus on a case, the company could at least be willing to discuss options with you.

Overall Review: Not a big con, but the holes on the drive platforms do not line up too well with 2.5 solid state drives.

Also, this thing is HEAVY! Need to forklift to carry it up a flight of stairs, but extremely solid.

Too avoid my issue with the cpu cooler clearance, forget about using Cooler Master Air Maker 8. In-Win says there's a 165mm clearance allowed for the cpu cooler by this case, but it is hard to tell from where that 165mm begins. So, go with something at least 20mm shorter than the Air Maker 8 and you should be okay.

Thoughts about the IN WIN H-FRAME 2.0 chassis 11/3/2016 6:04:55 AM

Pros: Let me start off by saying that this case shows what something can look like when a few people gather together and come up with ideas that come to be very unique.

- This case is what IN WIN calls a open-air chassis, so it's not your standard case but a case that is open to the air and one advantage to this is if you have a big cpu heat sink and a graphics card that turns off the fans when they are not needed then the case can run in a passively cooled state and be inaudible.

- The two glass side panels have a cool reflective mirror effect, but when the inside of the case is illuminated then the glass side panels become see through.

- The amber lighting effect really adds a nice touch to the case and does actually get quite bright. Even the IN WIN logo illuminates with the same amber lighting that runs up the front and along the top of the case.

- The case lighting can be adjusted to one of six brightness levels with using the two gray buttons on the bottom of the front I/O panel.

- The case comes with three usb 3.0 connectors and a usb 3.1 type-c connector for future connectivity. (I would have
preferred to lose one usb 3.0 for another usb 3.1 type-c connector)

- The case has a removable top tray for mounting up to a 360mm length radiator inside the case, and can accommodate up to a 185mm tall cpu heat sink.

- The case has four 3.5"/2.5" multi-purpose HDD/SSD trays (that I really like how they look in the case) and two EZ-Swap trays located at the bottom front of the case.

- The unique IN WIN logo imprinted thumbscrews really is the icing on the cake and adds a really nice touch.

- I really like how In Win has designed the power supply, PSU's usually are plain black boxes that one does not want to draw attention to, but with this included PSU it's something that you want to display. PSU makers can really learn something here, that PSU's can look like a work of art and not just be a black box one wants to hide.

- Thickness measurements of the five middle aluminum slates is 2.95mm thick, the outermost aluminum slates before the glass side panels on the left and right side of the case is 4.0mm thick, the seven middle aluminum slates on the rear of the case is 2.0mm thick, and the two glass side panels are 5.25mm in thickness.

- The custom power supply that comes with this case is a work of art in itself, with the two 4mm reflective mirror effect tempered glass windows on the sides of the power supply, the amber lighting effect, and the gold color on the top of the power supply really makes the psu look nice. The psu also has a 5V/3A usb fast charge on the rear of the psu that can charge things like tablets or phones even though the computer system is off. There is also a MODE slide switch for how long you would like the psu to remain powered, the modes are continuous on, on for 180 seconds after system shutdown, 30 seconds after system shutdown, and then normal mode that I believe is immediately off after system shutdown. The psu also has a large 165mm fan. Also the psu has eight (6+2) pin PCI-E cables for a four way graphics card set up. I believe that this psu may be manufactured by sea sonic and if so then the psu should last a good long while and be reliable.

Cons: - I did run into a little issue with connecting the Molex psu cable into the front I/O Molex connector, the psu Molex connector has plastic clips that would be pinched to make it easier to remove the Molex from what it is connected into, but because of the narrow space that the cases front I/O Molex connector is in the clips on the psu's Molex cable make it to wide to be pushed into the front I/O Molex connector for the case, so I had to use a utility knife and cut off the two plastic clips for the psu's Molex cable connector to be able to be pushed into the cases Molex connector. It's not to big of a deal just a little oversight and is a easy fix.

- The power supply's mounting location hole is not standard but is actually wider and therefore this case comes with it's own custom power supply. This may be a con for some that would have liked to install another psu in the future if the included custom psu was to die. But the included psu does look to be well made and does come with a five year warranty, and it would not be to difficult to make a custom cutout plate for a standard psu.

- It would have been nice if In Win could have designed the power button to be a bit larger. The power button is very tiny and is easy to miss pressing it.

- There is no rectangle aluminum frame to put the rear I/O shield into, so you would install the motherboard into the case without the I/O shield. Even I thought that this was a little strange looking with there being no rear I/O shield.

- The buttons on the front I/O are light gray and this draws your eyes to the buttons and I'm not quite sure about the color choice that IN WIN went with here. Having the buttons in a black gunmetal color would have blended the buttons in better with the case.

- The hard drive activity light is a bit bright, but to fix that just don't connect the hard drive activity led light cord to the motherboard.

- The EZ-Swap 3.5"/2.5" HDD/SSD cage is not really what I would call a EZ-Swap and the reason I say this is even though you do not have to disconnect or reconnect the sata cables you do have to unscrew the HDD/SSD from the tray and then rescrew the other HDD/SSD to the tray if you were planning on using a different HDD/SSD.

- Just noticed while typing out this review, by plugging in sensitive headphones into the cases front I/O headphone jack. When the hard drives activity light would blink, there was a faint squeaking sound coming through from the headphone jack on the cases I/O panel. So plugging the headphones into the motherboards rear I/O jack there was no squeaking sound coming through, so apparently the cases front I/O cables are not shielded. This is the first time I've ever run across something like this and is quite a shame for such an expensive case.

- The lighting does look nice on this case but I thought it was kind of strange that IN WIN did not use RGB LED lighting with this case, (especially since this seems to be the year that many brands are really pushing the lets make everything RGB lighting) but used LEDs that only illuminate a single color. It would be nice to illuminate the lighting on the case in ones color of choice, but with this cases lighting it can only be illuminated in the amber color.

- Bare in mind that this chassis is very heavy, weighing in at around 56lbs. That's just the case and the power supply, so after installing all the hardware this case will require two people to lift the case to it's location. It would be also recommended to use two people to move the case as is, for this case is definitely not a lite weight.

Overall Review: It's been around five years waiting for a case that fits my tastes and this case fit the bill nicely. Still running a high end i7 Sandy Bridge Rig and the case that I got for the build back when was the boring not so fancy corsair 600T that was meant to be used for just around a year or so until the right case came along. Even though there where a few atx cases that were released that would have worked as a replacement they were either not all aluminum or if they were all aluminum then they just looked like a standard rectangle box. The first case that really appealed to me and was going to get as a replacement for the Main Rig was the IN WIN S-Box Concept case showed at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2015 but sadly did not make it to release. (It would be really nice to see IN WIN release the S-Box case one day in that really cool red/black color theme, I would get one for sure.) But then a year later at CES 2016 IN WIN showed off this beauty and even though this case is a full mid tower and I was originally looking for a unique compact aluminum ATX mid tower, but could not help but get this case, and unique cases like this are practically none existence. This case was quoted at CES 2016 that it would be likely sold around the eight hundred dollar mark when it would be released, so not sure what happen to make the price go up so much. But after getting over the shock of the cost of the case and get the computer hardware instilled and take a step back and look at the overall finished build then you really can appreciate the looks and quality of the Rig. With it's nine aluminum slates, the amber led lighting up the front and along the top of the case, (even the IN WIN logo lights up) the soft amber glow of the included power supply, nice thick tempered glass side panels, down to the custom designed thumb screws with the imprinted IN WIN logo on them. (IN WIN even throws in two more of the same custom designed thumb screws if you were to lose one or two, this I found to be really nice to see) This case really is a work of art that could be displayed in a museum and will be the first art piece one will see when walking into the room. IN WIN really has showed that there is a market for items like this that are unique, and distinctive (even though very pricey) that there are people out there willing to pay for quality. If IN WIN keeps making unique and distinctive but also functional cases and does not lower the quality then IN WIN will remain as the top brand to go to
when someone is looking for a innovative, unique, quality case that no other brand can match. So is this a case that could be recommend, that's tough to say, considering one could get a GeForce GTX 1080, a Core i7, and a SSD for around the same price as this case. It really does depend on the individual. Even though this is a very unique case, it's difficult to recommend a case at this price. Design wise though In Win has been coming up with case designs that just look really appealing and that no other case designers are doing.

Beautiful case with unacceptable quality issues for its price point 10/6/2016 2:52:11 PM

Pros: This is an absolutely visually stunning case that is crafted out of high quality materials. The tinted tempered glass is thick and solid, and the aluminum used has a pleasing matte finish. The LEDs are as rich and lustrous as the product photos indicate, and the gold thumbscrews are a nice touch that reinforces the color scheme without seeming out of place like in other tempered glass cases. The case is very much an art piece.

Unlike many other art piece cases, this case is incredibly easy to build in. Practically everything in the case is modular and can be configured to the user's exact needs. The interior is spacious and there are plenty of cable management cutouts to work with.

Cons: I have several concerns about this case that would be easier to swallow for a $100 case, but in my opinion are completely unacceptable for a $1200 case.

First, for as beautiful as the stacked aluminum sheet design looks and how premium the materials feel, the case rattles just from footsteps around it. It gives the case a cheap feeling that belies its gilded appearance. There should have been more care in either securing the aluminum sheets to the case's frame, or some sort of sound dampening utilized if the rattling is unavoidable.

Second, there are no grommets or cable management tiedowns in the case. This is unfortunate because of the visibility afforded by the case - it is imperative that cables be managed cleanly in this case or else the visual effect is ruined. Inclusion of cable management tools could greatly improve the experience of building in this case. An even better inclusion would have been a cable management/hiding plate as seen in the Hex Gear cases. Such a plate would also be useful to people seeking to add LEDs to their build, as with the open nature of this case it is almost impossible to conceal strips in a way that won't be visible.

Third, LED brightness control utilizes an ugly ribbon-cable style extension that attaches to the motherboard and 24 pin power cable. Out of all the power options available to control LED brightness, this is probably the worst that In Win could have chosen. A case as beautiful as this one demands custom cables, and running custom cables to this extension, then having a custom extension running to the motherboard, creates a visually jarring effect in addition to being much harder to cable manage. The good news is, In Win made this extension removable so I could at least remove it from the case (but had to sacrifice brightness control to do so).

Fourth, a minor quibble, but it would have been nice to have the case be slightly taller in order to accommodate a wider selection of 360mm radiators in the top of the case, and DIY 280mm radiators in the front using radiator stands. The case itself is already fairly massive, but just not massive enough to create a silence-optimized custom watercooling loop.

Finally, the included power supply is beautiful and infuriating at the same time. Like every other aspect of the case, it looks incredible - it's made of high quality materials and the sides are one-way mirrors that turn transparent when the internal gold LEDs are lit. However, when the PSU is not in use, it emanates a subtle high-pitched whining noise that is just loud enough to be annoying in a quiet room. The only way to avoid it is to keep the LEDs on at all times, which can be annoying at night when trying to sleep. The aesthetics are also a double-edged sword, as it's extremely difficult to clean dust out of the PSU even using a DataVac at full blast.

Additionally, the PSU fan itself is by far the loudest component in my build. The PSU fan makes a clicking noise even under its quietest operating mode at idle, and it's very noticeable. Even when I'm gaming using speakers, in quiet moments I can hear the distinct clicking/ticking noise made by the fan. If I didn't already order a set of custom cables for the PSU, I would be considering ditching it for a quieter model with a fanless mode despite how aesthetically pleasing the PSU is. It's just that annoying.

Overall Review: I did RMA the PSU (for which I had to pay shipping). The In Win customer support and RMA staff were both very friendly and turnaround was extremely quick, and I received a brand new PSU. Unfortunately the new PSU had the exact same issues as my RMA'd one, so I suspect the issue is with the PSU design itself and not the particular unit I had. The PSU RMA process did take me out of my NewEgg return period, which unfortunately I would have made full use of.

The case is absolutely gorgeous and a visual centerpiece, but some poorly thought out design decisions and the absolutely infuriating PSU noise prevents me from giving me this case a positive review. Again, if this case was significantly cheaper, I would be satisfied with my purchase. But for a case priced in the upper echelon, these issues should not have made it to market.
