Is this a viable option for a PC case? I would like to install my normal PC into a rackmount.

Yes, that is what I used it for. I fit my ATX MOBO (12.0-in x 9.6-in) with GTX 1080 Ti card but it was a tight fit. The only complaint is that I can't use the two extra LAN activity lights because none of my NICs have activity light headers.

Question 2

Would this support my MSI Z77A-G41 motherboard? specs on that motherboard say that it's 12 x 8.5

Accepted Answer

Yes. This chassis support ATX motherboards. We usually use that chassis with ATX motherboards. You can fit your motherboard (MSI Z77A-G41)
Just remove 3.5" CD/DVD bays and HD bays before you put your motherboard into the chassis. Then you will put them back. Regards

Question 3

What would be the actual depth with the handles removed? My rack cabinet seems to be only 15.5" deep

From the front edge to the back edge (excluding handles) is just a touch over 17.5"  Maybe 17 9/16".  Then you'd need additional clearance at the back for cables and there are a few protrusions at the front (power switch, intake fan thumbscrews).

The specs say this case is 17.5 inches high. No way! What are its dimensions, really?

It is actually about 17.5", but I would call that the depth.  So if it is mounted in a rack the dimensions are about 19" wide (standard rack width), about 7" tall (4 rack spaces), and about 17.5" depth (which actually sticks out the back of my rack a little bit.  The other thing to know is that is if you remove the handles on the front - there are two handles that add about 2" of depth but on the front end.  They are removable, though, I believe if for instance your rack has a door on it or something like that.

Can I put the GIGABYTE B450M DS3H WIFI mATX board in this chassis? The dimensions of it are 9.6"x8".

I don't think you'll have any problem with motherboards  I quite like this case.  My problem was it is a little deeper than my rack cabinet

Question 6

Has anyone mounted one of these in a standard 19" rack? If so, how did you do it?  There are no instructions included with the case and no suggestions on mounting.  The mounting holes in the front are insufficient to support the enclosure, especially with anything inside it.

I've had one mounted in a standard rack using some spare rails we had sitting around. It's a wee bit tight with the rails but works. Mounting just using the front mounting hole would make me nervous only because it's more of a hassle to pull it out if you need to work on it. I recommend using the rails.

Is this designed to fit in a standard 19" rack? Based on the dimensions given, it looks too narrow.

Question 8

Has anyone successfully used rack rails with this case? If so, what is the manufacturer/model? I would like to mount this case in a relatively shallow wall mounted rack. Not sure what to expect regarding total extension but would hope for the most. Also, rack has square holes. Thanks.

I ordered this once, but it was too long for my rack (it was a more portable rack for audio).
I think they were the correct ones. They were just too long for my particularly short rack.

Question 9

This question is involving a CPU cooler.  Will the Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler fit in this chassis?  From what I can tell with the dimensions width wouldn't be a problem however height may be.  I have this cooler as a spare and It would be great to use it as its also very quiet.  Any response would greatly be appreciated.

I can't say exactly with that cooler, but I used a very large cooler and it just barely fit in height it would not go 1mm more it sits 14.5 cm off the board on top of the CPU. I bought two cases and must say they are heavy duty and well built and a very good price. Hope this helps.

Question 10

I'm not seeing any rackmount screw holes in the rack ears, is this really rack mountable? Also are the handles removable without also removing the rack ears?... my road case has a door and the protruding handles might be an issue.

It is rack mountable, I have mine mounted in a Roadrunner road
case and it fits great and the covers fit with no problem. I don't
know if the handles are removable but it looks like they are.
Iv'e built a lot of computers over the last 20 years and I think this is
an excellent case. It's well made, well designed and I think it's a
steal at the price.
