Is this compatible with Windows 8.1?

I use this with a windows 8.1 computer, and it works for the things I use it for. I plug USB drives into it and my headphones+microphone. I don't use the fan controllers, but there is no reason why they wouldn't work. As long as the stuff you are plugging into it works with Windows 8.1, this should too.

Is CF card lined up very easy and goes most of in or sticks out and hard time line it up?

I have two Atech Flash readers installed because they have a deep CF well and the card always lines up great. I had one of these units installed and within a short time I got a couple of pins bent in the CF well. The well is shallow, so if you are using a CF card I would consider an alternative. The other features seemed to work well.
