Question 1

Are the cables needed (9-pin USB Female to 9-pin USB female and power cable) to connect this card included? If not, where do you find them?

Yes, they come with the device. You have to hook up the USB cable to a USB header on the motherboard and there's one for the power supply - a Molex to small white 2-pin connector. You use one of the USB headers on the device in order to hook it to the motherboard. It freed up a slot on my motherboard which helps with air flow. A lot of the PCIe USB adapter cards would make my BIOS "lose" my RAID array so I couldn't use them. When they were in a slot, the BIOS wouldn't see my RAID array so I was left with a non-bootable computer.

How long is the provided cable?

The provided cable is very short, much shorter than I would like; no more than 2-3" max. Plan on bringing down the required cable from your power supply to the device for power in case you don't have a long enough extension from your other devices. The good news is the device already has a self adhesive velcro strip already applied to it. So its just a matter of best planning where to best locate the device inside your PC case for ease of power and other cables. Even with these minor irritations, this is still a must buy for your computer. After I got it located and cables run it it, it installed with no problems; now I have a total of 11 USB ports on my new gaming PC. Before you could never have enough USB ports, now I have more than I need. :-) Even comes with 2 Firewire ports, that I still have no use for.

Question 3

does anyone use the 1.1 with no problems?, ive heard no one having problems with the 2.0 version

I'm not exactly sure if I have the 2.0 version, but I've had it in my last system I built about 17 months ago and it is working wonderfully.  I'm using it to provide internal ports to my corsair cpu water cooler and thier power supply.  It really has been a much easier way to expand internal ports to free up more for the case.
