Does this clip on to the optical drive or the case?

Onto the case. Matches the soft touch finish of the case perfectly. I liked how it looked so much with my optical drive, I bought another one for use with the nzxt HUE I just threw in to light up my rig. My case's clean lines remain intact

Question 2

I am looking for a cover to accommodate a CD/DVD drive removed from a laptop so that it can be used as an external CD/DVD drive. Will this serve the purpose ?

This covers the face of a standard CD/DVD drive on the bitfenix Shinobi case so the drive blends in with the rest of the case. It's not a complete case that holds a drive so I am going to say no.

Question 3

Does the button on this cover work with any disc drive or are there specific drives that this is compatible with? (I want to be able to open the disc drive using that button)

Hey, to answer your question, I just bought this drive a little while ago, and for me it works great.  You just push the button on the Drive Cover and it in turn pushes the button behind it which opens the drive.  So I'm pretty sure that as long as the button on your disc drive is in the standard position (bottom right) it should work great for you.

I have a pretty standard looking drive, just fyi. Hope this helped!

Will this fit any 5.25" drive bay or only shinobis? I have a bitfenix prodigy and was wondering if it would fit that.
