Does this surge protector have a low profile plug or right angle plug? I need a straight in plug for my floor outlet.

The plug is low profile. I have it connected to a wall outlet that is blocked by part of my desk.

Is it easy to replace the fuse if required or do we need to disassemble the surge to get to it?

To my knowledge it voids the warranty and probly cant be fixed anyway.  I believe they will replace the unit for free if it was damaged do to a electrical spike.  There is no safe way to fix a surge protector that has been damaged.   Its kind of like a car seat after an accident throw it away or get it covered by insurance.  Never reuse it or try to fix it.

The red light is on next to "grounded" what is that about?

I don think that's good the light is for "Not Grounded" Meaning the electricity is not flowing correctly and could short circuit. are you sure its on? Mine only looks slightly dim if I shine my flashlight on it.

Can you plug this cord into the top wall outlet with something else plugged in below it?

I have the Belkin surge protector plugged in with the other plug hosting a lamp. No problems have been experienced. My surge protector has chargers for my iPad and iPhone, a bluetooth phone, and a blood pressure monitor, all of which work properly without fail. Do you ask your question because you plan to plug in many heavy draw electrical appliances? If that's the case, you might check with an electrician.

Google it - Definition is "Clamping voltage refers to the maximum amount of voltage that can pass a surge protector or electrical breaker before it restricts further voltage from passing to a device or computer. It is a process through which a device or equipment is protected from electrical surges." It keeps excess voltage from reaching the device plugged into it and melting it.

Does this really have ethernet (internet/lan) protection? Looking at pics and advanced specs it appears it only has phone/fax protection and not true ethernet (at-least not full speed connection if it does), can anyone verify this?

Unintended Interactions with Surge Protectors

This Surge Protector purports to protect phone, Ethernet and Coax inputs as well as AC but because they share a common ground they actually create more problems than they solve. Recent studies i.e., Google unintended interactions with surge protectors suggest that house wiring may not be capable of proving a low impedance return path for surges. While okay at 50/60 Hz that electricity uses, it's an entirely different ballgame when the surges are in the kilohertz to hundreds of megahertz range. That said, because all the protection circuits have different voltage thresholds more often than not, Ethernet ports, modems and coax connections on the other end of the surge protector get zapped and fried while the Surge Protector continues to operate. Not that manufactures have an escape clause in their instructions and manuals noting that it's the end-user responsibility to ensure that a low impedance return path exists in their house wiring.

By way of an analogy, consider a hand gently breaking the surface tension of water & freely moving underneath the water. This is how it is for electricity. Now take the same hand, slam it as hard as you can into the water & you’ll encounter a lot of resistance, perhaps it will feel as if you hit a brick wall. This is how it is for surges. The water is analogous to the house wiring. At some frequency the surge hasn’t got a chance & will seek another path perhaps damaging our electronics in the process. That’s why spikes or transients which are often measured in billionths of a second are least likely to find their way, & often zap our electronics instead.

Whole House Surge protectors installed in the mains electrical panel do a better job at diverting the surge because the earth ground rod is often less than 10 feet away but since they are not perfect another technology could be used in the house that slows the surge down in real time

It says it has a 3996 Joule energy rating. My guess is that applies to everything you connect to it, including ethernet cabling. Ethernet protection is listed as one of its features.
