Does this product work with Windows 7 environment software? I recently installed a device and it works find and the device is recognized. However, when I use the adapter between the cable and PC the device is not recognizable.

I used the adapter on an old file server running windows 2003.
Did not work out-of-the-box.
I had to track down the "chipset" that was internal to the adapter.
I download a driver from the manufacturer.
Then it worked fine.
