the cable that comes with it is only to power the riser card. The graphics card 6 or 8 pin power needs to also be connected.

This product is intended to allow a full size PCIe x16 graphics card to be connected to a PCIe x1 slot on a motherboard. This is useful for applications that do not require the bandwidth of an x16 slot, and where a user requires additional physical PCIe x16 slots for graphics cards or other expansion cards.

Additionally, this is a 6-pin PCIe powered riser that allows the power that the graphics card needs to pull through the slot to come directly from the PSU instead of having to go through the motherboard. Using multiple powerful graphics cards on unpowered risers with a typical motherboard can cause problems.

Would these be good for mining with 1060 6gb?

The 1060 6gb card is pcie so yes these are good.  Only item to consider is your available power connectors.  The riser comes with a sata to 6 pin adapter.

I want to add four SATA drives to a Mac Mini.  Can I use this to power and use a SATA card that will work four drives?

The best you could do would be to daisy-chain some external drives via Thunderbolt, or even to use USB 3.  As stated, the Mini has no PCIe slots to plug into.  The two internal drives in a Mini get their power from a tiny ribbon cable off the motherboard and nothing resembling a PC power connector exists anywhere inside the unit.

What kind of hash rate can you get with this?

This is a riser card it does not hash on it's own it is used to extend the link between your motherboard and the graphics card so that you can connect more graphics cards then you normally would be able to if you were connecting them directly to the motherboard.

I specifically need to install a NVIDIA GE Force GT 1030 in an older computer. The nvidia box says it requires a PCI Express motherbooard with 1 dual-width x 16 graphics slot. Will this riser card work? If not can you suggest 1 that will.

This is a x16 PCI Express riser in order to use it the older motherboard will need either a x1 PCI Express x4 PCI Express slot or a x16 PCI Express slot. If the slot you have is a PCI slot not a PCI Express slot it will not work. For more read more about PCI and PCI-E on Toms Hardware.

Can this be used with any PCIe device? I'd like to use it to build a custom HDD enclosure with a perc 6/i connected to it.

This should extend any PCI-E device that would normally go into an pci express x16 slot but it will only run at pcie 1.0 not x16 (REDUCED-SPEED!) because the riser is designed to run in any pci express slot X16 x8 X4 X1  it only uses the data pins from pcie slot not the power pins it has its own external power port that requires a( sata,molex, or pcie6-pin) depending on version of riser u decide to purchase! hope it helps :)

UPCIE risers may use the same cable as USB, but are not USB compatible.

I have a mother board that only has one x16 slot, can I use this to add another video card to my computer for connecting monitors to, to extend my windows desktop on to?

If your motherboard has additional PCIe slots (such as a PCIe x1 slot), then this riser could help you. Otherwise, you would need some sort of splitter device to connect another graphics card to the same PCIe x16 slot.
