will this work with sata 1, 2 or 3?

SATA 3 is the fastest at 6 Gbps.  But, from what I've read, most hard drives (which is what I'm using them for) don't run this fast and usually only need SATA 2 or 1 for slower models.  So, like the USB, the higher speed IS backward compatible with all the older slower ones.  I've had no trouble running my newer and older drives with these cables on my new computer.

Question 2

Is this cable SATA III?  Do you go by speed (6 Gbps or SATA number)?

Obviously I'm one step above novice.

Yes, it's SATA III, II, I compatible. It really doesn't matter what you go by as long as you get the right spec for your product. SATA III is 6Gbps, SATA II is 3 GPS,  and SATA I is 1.5Gbps. This cable works with all of them.

Question 3

Is this a SATA III Cable? the page says it's a SATA II but it has the SATA III speeds of 6 Gbps so I am a bit confused on if this cable would hold back the peak speeds of my HDD or not.

It does support 6 gbps so it should work fine with your hard drives.

Question 4

When plugged into the hard drive, assuming the label side of the drive is up, does the angle of the cable go up or down?

Down.... look at a close up of the picture and notice the notch looking in the connector. you can tell then that the answer is down.

Question 5

Is this cable UV reactive (does it glow under a black light)?  Or just brightly colored and marketed as UV?

I purchased this sata cable about 1 yr ago not aware that it was UV reactive. One thing i can say is, it still is doing its job just fine & for the price, you cannot beat it.
