Question 1

I have an older computer I've updated.  When I bought it, I had the company put in a floppy drive and that was all fine and good.  But now that I've updated it, I don't have any IDE connections to my motherboard.  Would this work to connect the old floppy IDE connection to the SATA motherboard?

the floppy "ribbon" cables have less wires inside it and different/smaller connector than the hard drive IDE Ribbon cables., which are totally different.

This however, is a SATA which has nothing to do with IDE or Floppy, and is much smaller than both floppy and IDE connectors.

the only different thing about this cable is it is compatible with old power supplies because of the molex plug.

if you want an internal or external floppy drive, buy a usb version.  if you want an old-school ribbon cable floppy drive to work, get a PCI floppy controller expansion card.

Question 2

Will this product be compatible with a slim line DVD player which was used with an Alienware X51? Not sure who the manufacturer is though. This appears to be compatible with the drive I was intending on use it with. 
I had upgraded the Alienware's optical drive from the standard DVD player to a slim line Blu-Ray burner.

Not 100% certain about the Alienware X51's stock drive; but slimline (laptop and small-form-factor desktop optical drives are overwhelmingly the place where you see this type of connector, for any device new enough to be SATA based. Odds are very good that the answer will be yes, unless Alienware is doing something that is both very odd and quite different from Dell (who they would probably share basic parts like DVD drives with, just for economies of scale). I don't deal with alienware much; but I've dealt with hundreds of slimline SATA optical drives in recent-ish Dells, and they are all compatible with this.

Question 3

Can I use this cable with a 30GB Toshiba SSD mSATA to conect to a regular SATA port on a desktop motherboard? I want to use this SSD mSATA as a HDD for my desktop.

It depends if your drive is 'Slimline SATA' or 'mini (m)SATA'. This cable is mislabeled as miniSATA but it's really Slimline. (Commonly used on optical drives, I don't know if any hard drives use it). The Wikipedia page on mSATA has a nice picture comparing regular vs. mSATA. Regulear and slimline look very similar with an enclosed connector block on the drive. Mini just has exposed pads on the circuit board as the connector and no shroud or housing. If your drive looks like that, Joaquin H is correct and you need a different adapter

Question 4

I bought a HP Envy that has a P5 power connector to the DVD but when I changed the power supply, it doesnt have one. Can this work to supply power to the slim DVD drive with a p5 connector if it plugs  into the Molex cord?

I used this connector to connect slim DVD-W TS-L633. DVD drive was from Dell PC.

Would I be able to use this to get data of my old macbook air 2009 hard drive?

I do not believe so, The AIR HD appears to be a PATA interface.
