Can this be used as a splitter?

The short answer is No. Splitters are different from switches. A switch will allow you to swap between multiple outputs on a single monitor (i.e. blueray + xbox + cable box > switch > single HDMI input on a tv). Splitters are just that, they will send a single HDMI signal to multiple HDMI cables. (I.e. cable box > splitter > tv + tv + tv)

Does this work with PS3? I have seen a number of reviews with statements about PS3 not working. I assume others have had success, but didn't bother to mention it?

I have a PS3, Apple TV, and a PC connected to this all at the same time. Works fine. If you're watching a show and switch on the PS3 it will auto-switch to the PS3, which can be welcome or annoying, depending on if you meant to do that.

Can this be used as a 1 in 3 out(reverse)?

Just received mine -Works-box mentions "Inputs can be switched with the IR remote control"and button. No remote included -no instructions either -is there a code to enter on a multi remote will function to switch inputs without getting up to reach the button?? Dave

I didn't get an IR remote. I just use the button to push. The mfg website doesn't say anything about IR functionality.
