Question 1

Are the SATA connections thin enough to plug in one on top of the other? I have the Icy Dock mount for 2 SSD drives and the stock (seasonic) power cables are slightly angled and don't fit in trying to plug in 2 that close together.

Probably not. The cables come out from the bottom of the connectors, rather than the back, so it would be hard to get them very close together. You would need something with a straight connector instead of the right angle ones here.

Question 2

Does the cable really include the orange 3.3v connection?

yes. 5 wires. orange, red, yellow, and 2 black.

Question 3

Anyone know what gauge wire is in this extension?  18awg? 20? Boy I hope not 22 or smaller.  Also if someone could confirm if the adapter does indeed have all 5 wires as pictured, many leave out the infrequently used 3.3v (orange) fifth line.

The wires are 20 awg. It does come with all 5 wires as pictured. The problem with it is it is cheaply made. becareful with the male end when connecting it to your PO cable. I had one short out and melt the plastic connectors. I had to remove one of my PO cables internally. I also had one out of the box not have one the plastic clips that covers the wire connection at the 90 connector. It was just gone, not even assembled propperly.
