Does this unit include the cable driver - or is it necessary? Wish to use on 64 bit Win 7 and HP DJ 720C

I attached the adapter to my parallel cable from my HP LaserJet 2100 and then to my Windows 8 (or maybe 8.1) computer using the adapter's USB plug.  Of course I needed HP's printer driver for Windows 8, which I downloaded from HP.  I needed no separate cable driver.  My computer had no trouble recognizing the printer, and I have been using the printer and cable daily without problems ever since (about 9 months).

I need to make sure this has drivers to work with windows 8?

As far as I am aware, drivers are needed for the printer, not for the cable.  I bought mine so I could use an HP LaserJet 5L Xtra with a Windows 8 PC which does not have a parallel port.  Unfortunately, I was unable to make the printer work - no drivers were compatible with Windows 8  (I tried to use the Windows 7 drivers).

You should be able to find the latest drivers for your printer on the manufacturer's website, usually somewhere under "Customer Support".

Depending on your budget, you may just want to get a new printer.  I was able to buy a new laser printer for just a bit more than the cost of the cable plus one toner cartridge for my old printer, and cartridges for the new printer are 25% cheaper than for the old one.

Is this compatible with Windows 7 and 8?

I never got the cable to work with a HP Design Jet 430.  But my world was Windows 7 and HP never updated the drivers beyond windows xp.  I never tested further.

Question 4

Is there such a thing as a male/USB cable with the 25 pins to fit a Zip drive?

The ad on Newegg says you can connect a zip drive, but a couple of you are saying it won't work, that I have to add something to my computer. I'm not a computer geek and I have no clue what a port replicator is. I don't know what an expansion card is or what I would do with it if I had one. I was hoping I could just plug the zip drive cable into this cable and then put the usb end in my laptop.
