CAN I HOOK THIS CONNECTOR TO MY COMPUTER AND MY HDTV?

This did not work for me.

I have 1 large PC monitor that I wanted to share between a desktop PC and a notebook.  Rather than go to the back of the monitor and unplug it all the time, I thought I would permanently plug in the Male plug to the monitor and one female to my PC.

When I wanted to use the monitor for my notebook, my desktop would be off, and I would plug into the second female plug.

Never worked for me.  Research indicated it was not a cable issue but a digital rights issues.

Question 2

i want to use this to plug into my monitor and use it for PC/ps3 so i won't have to switch out cables all the time.from what I've read that's not possible right?it's meant for video card and plug in two monitors.

This is not possible with this. This will just mirror what would be displayed on one monitor to two. What I think you are looking for is DVI or HDMI (I'm not sure what connectors you have available on your devices). This is an example: http://bit.ly/Ry9eE1

Will this allow me to extend my desktop or will it just display primary video?

To extend the desktop I use an HDMI to DVI cable to go from the PC to the monitor.  Got it at Newegg.  Works Great.

Question 4

Assuming I have a dual link video card, can I plug this adapter in to run independent (not mirrored) dual displays?  If not can anyone suggest a product to accomplish this?

No this will not work for that purpose. This is intended to spilt the dual dvi into 2 single link. This works for older monitors that required 2 dvi signals to support the full resolution  if you hook this to two modern flat panels they will either mirrors or can be split but each montior will be at half its max resolution.

Hey do you guys have a DVI-I (MALE) Splitter Y cord 1FT to 2x DVI-D (FEMALE) ? Or can you answer why my splitter wont split these displays into TWO seperate displays?

I have:

AMD 8 core CPU
8 gb ram
AMD Readeon R9 270x 2x DVI = (DVI-I/DVI-D) 1x HDMI 1x VGA

Well...I can't link you to other sites here, but just search dvi-i vs dvi-d and the first few results should explain what's  going on with your set up...

My guess is the VGA monitor in your set up is causing the problems. I believe you just can't split a signal between digital and analog w/o a converter of some type; certainly not through a cable by itself. I tried to run my old set up vga as long as I could, but even with signal amplifiers more than 2 screens from a single source looked like garbage. I'd recommend you trade out that VGA monitor for a dvi/hdmi monitor. NewEgg has deals on all the screens, cables and splitters you could need. Right now I run 7 hdtv/monitors through a mix of  the StarTech DVISPL1DD dvi splitter, dedicated dvi, mini display port, and an hdmi splitter between two rooms. Oh, btw anything on a splitter will need to be same resolution.

Switch over to all digital bro, you won't  look back ;-)

will this support splitting a signal to a monitor at 144hz and a streaming pc (using and hdmi adaptor for output 2)?

I need to connect my laptop that has a 15PIN FEMALE monitor connection to two asus monitors I purchased through Newegg.  the monitors only have 24PIN DVI FEMALE ports.  I need a splitter that has 3 MALE connectors 1-15pin into 2-24pin.  I am certain I am not the only person that has tried this, but your find a cable tool will not allow that combo?
