1: Will this work with windows 7 (64)
2: Will I have to disconnect the bi-dictional capacity - and if so are the instructions to do so clear?

1) Works with Windows 7, no prob 
2) Unsure about about the bi-dictional capacity issue.  I used this cable to attach an older HP laser jet printer to my desktop and it worked beautifully. In other words, to get my printer to work I didn't have to do anything other than ensure the drivers were up to date and the printer turned on.

Second part of question, will this work with operation system Vista and Window 7?

The cable will work, just depends on your printer. I plugged it in the HP and when I got out from under the desk, the screen on the Windows 7 computer said "Your printer is now installed"

Printing is hard enough. W8 might be the issue. Poor tolerance for disconnecting or powering down printer.

How long in feet is the cable?

I'm an IT person and have installed a couple of these in recent months. If memory serves me correctly they were about 6 feet long.  Being USB they could have a USB extension cable added if more length was needed.

They are currently working fine in the locations in which they were installed. I work in a university environment.

Will this cable work with iomega zip 100 parallel port drive?

There are several issues here.  The parallel cable from Iomega might not be the same as another cable.  (Do they both use all of the pins)  I've never tried using anything other than Iomega's supplied parallel cable.  The second problem here is the kind of operating system you are using it on.  A Zip100 drive will not work with Windows 7 unless you have Windows 7 Ultra and then run it in XP mode.  You might be able to get to work then.  Your best bet would be to do this on a Windows XP computer.  You won't know for sure without trying it.  Maybe somebody else has experimented doing that.  I've got all of the parts but I've had no reason to try that with a Zip100.
