ok I have 1 HDMI on my video card on the PC, my question is, Will this allow me to dual monitors without haveing to buy a new video card?

Accepted Answer

No.  This is not the same as having multiple outputs on your video card.  This would only duplicate the video coming from your computer, allowing up to 4 displays displaying the same input.   So unless all you want to do is duplicate your display on another monitor, this will not let you extent your desktop.

My graphics card only has one HDMI output, can i use this so i am able to use more monitors despite having only one output???

You can add more displays using this, but you will only be able to output the same video source on all of them (duplicate image / same resolution / etc.).  If you're looking to extend your monitor setup and have more than one image displayed you'll likely need another video card.

Question 3

YO, IS THIS THING METAL AND DOES IT HAVE MOUNTING HOLES ON THE BOTTOM?

It is a metal box but doesn't have any way of mounting. i guess some really good double sided mounting tape on the right surface might work, but i order two of them for my work and they haven't had any problems. if you have lets say two tv's playing and hook up a third one while everything is on then the signal goes black for a few seconds on all devices but the after detection all comes back. thanks

I purchased this splitter to split from an HDMI to display adapter #StarTech DP2HDMIADAP.  The external display works with 1 monitor connected but not once this splitter is put in line to split to two external monitors.  Any idea why this configuration would work?

I'm going to try to answer what I think you're asking, so forgive me if I'm not in synch.  Don’t be offended if it seems I’m belittling you by starting with basics.  Experience has taught me that to be the best way to begin diagnosis.

Is the splitter placed before or after the display port converter?

First, check your cables.   Make sure the connection is good at all points.

If you find they are, switch the cables between the 2 monitors to ensure both cables are carrying a good signal.

The splitter is rated for Output Video to HDMI 1.2 protocol.  Is the HDMI cable you’re using 1.1 protocol, 1.2 protocol, 1.3 protocol, or the new 1.4 protocol?  I would think the splitter is backward compatible to 1.1, but you may want to stay at 1.2 pending your inspection.

Question 5

Will this product work with a Kramer video scaler I purchased about 1-1/2 years ago that may output an older version of HDMI?

I don't know for sure, but I think so.  It supports HDMI Resolution: 1080/24fs/1080P/1080i/720P/576P/576i/480P/480i
I have the output of my computers video card connected to it, then it goes to four different TV's.  Works great!  :)
The screen resolution setting I have it on is 1280x1024

Are all HDMI outputs active at the same time or only one at a time?

Technically, yes they are all active!!! When you turn on a TV it sends a signal to the splitter and a blue light comes on to show the active port... All televisions that are connected will play at the same time if turned on with no loss to the quality of the signal.... The great thing with this splitter is that, unlike some other splitters all the television don't have to be the same size for all of them to play at the same time...
