While I have not used it for a Galaxy Note 10.1, I have used it with a Galaxy S4 with no issues, along with using it to power a Raspberry Pi.  There's very little voltage loss over the cable I got, and since the Galaxy Note 10.1 uses the same micro USB plug that the Galaxy S4 does, I wouldn't see a problem with it.

it is possible to buy usb extension cables, but they do not suggest it, because too many problems with usb 2.0 devices on  usb cables over 6 foot length.
