I recently bought a Asus pg279q. Does this cable support 2560x1440 at 165hz?

I can't say for certain that it will support that high of a refresh rate. However, it will support 144Hz. I would assume it would since we are only talking a difference of 21Hz. On a side note, I set my monitor's refresh rate to 120Hz because of GPU utilization. At 144Hz my GPU runs hotter and has to kick the fans on, even when sitting idle. However, at 120Hz, my GPU stays pretty silent and it's temp is relatively low. You may want to check out how much GPU utilization 165Hz is using and bump it down to 120Hz to see if you can a difference for the added strain on your GPU. I can't tell a difference, but you may be able to.
