anyone using a workstation running windows 7 pro, using this to manage a 3rd monitor?

Yes, works pretty well most of the times. I purchased 6 and 2 had issues that frequently were resolved by power cycling the device to get the 3rd monitor functioning. I'd recommend the device to another user.

Question 2

Will this product allow me to view different applications simultaneously?  I don't want to mirror what's on the first screen.

You don't need this device in order to project something on the projector. With what you may have right now you may be able to to do want it sounds like in your question.

It sounds like you want to go to your display settings and change your display settings. If you extend the desktop you'll be able to make your projector act like another monitor so you could drag a window to project your slide in that it allows you to have something else display back on your home screen.

This works great in my classroom. they can what's see on the projector but they can't see what I'm doing back on my main screen laptop.

I use this device so that I can connect much easier to extra monitors.

I hope this helps. Also I connect with a USB with this device. But for what it sounded like you wanted to do you could use any connection.

Question 3

Does this adapter allow for the "mirror" setting? I just want to duplicate my image on the second monitor.
Also, any compatibility issues with MS Vista SP 2?

It gives the option to mirror in Win7.  Not sure about Vista.
It uses a control program provided by Displaylink to manage hardware specific options, but the display is also configurable through Windows Control Panel.

Question 4

I have a PC that does not have a HDMI port (has Multi use port) and I need to run a monitor on my desk and the new 50" TV on the wall in order for clients to see spreadsheets etc. Better. The TV is more or less a secondary display. I was looking for an external product that can easily plug into PC and give be sharper resolution on monitor and HDMI to TV display and did not know if this devise was right or something else? - Thanks for your input.

I don't know if this will help you get a better resolution but it may help you connect to the TV.

This product will allow you to connect to almost anything but I don't know it will get better resolution.

Right now I use it to connect to an external monitor using my USB port.

I can connect to the HDMI port as well but I haven't tried that.

I just recently bought an all in one HP computer and realized it doesn't have a DVI port for my cintiq to plug into.  Would this be my solution or should I bag the idea of an all in one all together?

It comes with a VGA cable, which is what I use for my extra monitor. I would still give this model a shot, as I have tried others, and this one has worked best for me. This model comes with converters for VGA and HDMI as well.

I don't know if I understand your question correctly.

if you're asking if each box comes with everything to hook up to one monitor then you only have to buy one box.

you may already be using the VGA out on your computer that connects to a projector already or a monitor already? in this case you would be able to connect to two monitors using one box that you purchase and the VGA cord.

Will this boost the performance of gaming on my mac?

No, it will not  increase video speeds for any application. What it does is allow dual monitor capability via a USB port. It does this very well. It's a cheaper alternative than adding another video card.

with this work with osx mavericks?

It does, but support seems to be spotty.  Currently in Mavericks, I have to unplug the device and then plug it in once I am fully booted to the desktop.

If I leave it plugged in during boot, it will just hang at the login screen.

I haven't tried it on a Mac mini but I doubt it. It does work on my  MacBook  air.
