I have PCI express open slots will this fit? PCI Express x16: 1 PCI Express x1: 3 PCI Express x1 minicard socket: 1

This card fits the PCI express mini card socket. My computer only has PCI slots and so I needed a PCI to PCI express adapter. I used the Startech PCI to PCI Express adapter card (PCI1PEX1). I had to use the half high bracket that is supplied with the SYBA USB 3.0 controller card. Both cards install easily. The SYBA driver installed without any problems. I use the internal USB 3.0 socket for a 4gb SONY memory stick (USM4GM) which is configured as an Extended Memory Device (ReadyBoost) in Windows 7. Don't used a stick larger than 4gb because Windows 7 supports a max of 4gb for this function. See windows help on how to set this up, it's very easy. This really helps with system performance. The USB 3.0 sockets on the back of the board are used for various devices. I also had to get an extender Molex IDE power cable to connect to the inside Molex connector on the board. This is needed in case a high powered device is connected to the USB 3.0 board (IE; a disc drive). I highly recommend this board.

has anyone attempted to install and use this card in Windows 2012 R2 Server? Drivers say nothing specifically about 2012 Server but does mention Windows 8 support.

I did not use Windows 2012 R2, but I did use WHS2, which is essentially the same thing (from the driver perspective). It worked perfectly fine with that and Windows 7.
