How log is the included USB 3 cable?

Three people answered my cable length question.  There have been three different answers, 4", 19" and 40".  Sounds like a game of chance as to what length cable is included with this hub.  Maybe thats why cable length isn't mentioned in the specifications.

I'd like to connect many external hard drives at the same time. Is the power cord included supported? How much Amp does it supply? Thank you.

Yes, it comes with a wall power brick that supplies 3A @ 5V. Each USB 3.0 port can supply 0.9A, so allowing 0.3A for the Ethernet seems to account for everything.

Will this work even without the power adapter?

Yes.  I don't even pack the power cord.  The cord is large and bulky.  Bought it for the usability without the power cord and it works well.

Question 5

New to the USB Hub with RJ45 concept.  What is the purpose of the RJ45 and how do you use it?   send a link for description if that is helpful.

The RJ45 is an Ethernet connection.

In my use, I plug one USB 3 into the side of my MacBook Pro, and then have access to all of the USB "things" plugged into the hub, plus access to my entire home network via the Ethernet cable (hub connected to one of the router's Ethernet ports).  A side benefit is usually faster sharing of files between computers over the local house network than over wifi.

Note that if your equipment is USB 2, it is limited to a theoretical throughput of ~0.5 Gbit/second), and therefore if you have Gigabit Ethernet (1.0 Gbs) you won't see full 1.0 Gbs transfer rates through the hub from the Ethernet cable.  My laptop has a USB 3.0 port (theoretically 5 Gbs), so the hub does not appear to be limiting on Ethernet transfers.

No. It is used with a USB computer port to provide:-

1. A USB expansion hub for extra USB devices.
2. A Ethernet port for the PC via the PCs USB port. To enable the port
a driver is installed on the PC.

It does not provide Ethernet to USB direct transfer.

Can I connect this to my Airport Extreme through the ethernet connection then connect my external hard drives to it so they can be shared by all the computers on my network?

Yes it should work. Once install the computer will see the network and the 3 extra 3usb .

It says on the plug, "Switching Mode Power Supply", input 100-240V, 50/60hz, .45A max, output 5.0V 3.0A

Hi, I bought one of these to use with my mac, but when my computer goes to sleep the hub seems to shut off, disconnecting the hard drives attached to it. Is there any way around this?

You can go to the power management setting for the USB hub in device manager I think it comes up as a Generic Super Speed Hub, and tell it to not power down when the computer goes to sleep from the power management tab.  That should fix you.

Can I use this to access my external USB drives over the network from multiple machines?

Dont see why it wouldnt.  As long as you have the shares properly configured, with the proper NTFS permissions on the file folders you shoudl be good to share.  Its just an Ethernet adapter for your tablet/laptop.  Plus a USB hub.
