not so sure this is the product you want, this is designed for 2 computers to share one monitor and one keyboard, you toggle back and forth from one to the other with a single click of one button.

what is the length of the cables?  I would prefer something about 48 inches

These are 48" or close to that.  I have the unit installed and can't get an exact measurement but based on what I can calculate while installed they are at least 46"

Remote switch is broken. Can you use this without the remote?

As per the manual available for download from the first link on google after searching for "iogear gcs932ub hotkey" without the quotes, there are hotkeys that you can use to switch between computers. Hitting scroll lock twice on your keyboard is one option.

Question 4

I am looking to only switch DVI monitor between two computers.  One computer is a MacBook, the other is a PC-Windows7; each will have its own keyboard-mouse.  Will this unit work if only switching the DVI as I thought some KVM's pull their power from one of the cables?

It will work with only monitors. I was using it as complete switch, but using it like that, my mouse had issues as Windows wouldnt recognize the drivers if it was running through the KVM. So now, i have separate mouse/keyboard for each PC. Both of mine are Windows. The sound portion i didnt mess with as i dont need the sound on one of the PCs.

I have a 4-port KVM, but after replacing my monitor that only has HDMI connections, my KVM will not work even when using a HDMI to DVI-D cable. Will this KVM work using a HDMI to DVI-D cable from the monitor to the KVM?

I'm not positive but I don't believe it will work.   I think you need an HDMI KVM.

Question 6

I currently have a 4-port VGA/USA KVM.  I've since downsized to 2 computers and only need 2-ports, but want to switch to DVI because my current VGA/USB KVM will randomly lose the DDC information for my monitor and requires a hard reset (switch off power to computers, reset KVM).     Does this unit lose connection and DDC information?   I'm hoping that it is less prone to this behavior because it uses DVI link and not analog VGA for DDC transmission.  Any feedback?
