I am not a computer guy - will this product allow me to use two monitors  I would like to be using word on one and excel on the other my current Lenovo G 570 Laptop has only a single VGA output?

Accepted Answer

No. It puts identical output into two monitors.
However, your laptop, when hooked to an external monitor, can display one thing on the laptop display and something else one the external monitor. So that gets you your two displays without buying anything. :)

Question 2

I was wondering if this device will allow me to extend my displays across multiple monitors.

I have a laptop with a single VGA output (along with the built-in primary monitor of course) and am looking to have the ability to have 3 extended displays with the use of this product.

Display 1 = Laptop Monitor
Display 2 = VGA connected Monitor
Display 3 = VGA connected Monitor.

With this, can I have 3 extended desktops? I am no looking to clone or duplicate my displays, but have 3 work-spaces.

Additional workspace is a function of your video card. This device will simply split whatever is coming out of your vga connector, so both displays will be identical.

With this device, can I EXTEND my desktop onto two monitors?
Or will this simple clone my laptop display to two other monitors?

In short, I am trying to get three workspaces (extended displays) to function through 1 VGA port.

From my experience this will only "mirror" your existing monitor, not expand your monitor count. I use it to split off to a projector and refeed the monitor.
