Yes, the unit works great with both wireless mice and keyboards. I have two of these and have used various Logitech wireless keyboards and/or mice. As far as operating systems, so far Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8 and 10, as well as Windows Server have all worked well.

will this product work on vista and windows 8.1 os?

I can say it works flawlessly on 8.0 & 8.1.

Should be fine on Vista.

This device doesn't really integrate with the computer past the devices. It acts like you just physically plugged in a USB keyB and mouse. When you switch over, you hear the Bing Bongs like you just plugged in a device and it starts to work. It doesn't go into the OS and need to talk to drivers.

At least in my case that's how it works.

I have 8 on both ends. Had a Mac on one end too. Works that way also.

Can it work and connect to XP CPU with PS2 adapter?

This KVM Switch has 2 USB inputs (typically a kbd & a mouse), and 2 pairs
of USB outputs to control 2 computers. This KVM and any input devices
connected to it are ultimately powered from the computer(s). Typical load for
either a keyboard or mouse is 100ma each, and each computer USB port is good
to supply 500ma max. I don't know what a computer's PS2 port can supply, but
obviously enough for a typical keyboard or mouse.
I assume that a PS2 adaptor must necessarily source or "pass thru" power
to an input device whether or not it's PS2-to-USB or USB-to-PS2. The adaptor
itself also has its own power requirement, probably minimal. You didn't specify
if the adaptor is multi-input, multi-output, some other variation/configuration, etc.
You didn't specify type (USB or PS2) of input devices being used, computer
port type (USB or PS2) or any combination thereof, so no more specific an
answer to your original question than " probably YES, but maybe NOT." 
Added info concerning a potential "gotcha" ...
Windows, by default, powers off unused USB ports after an unknown time.
So, working with 2 computers & spending too much time on either will
occasionally "hang" the kbd/mouse ( video switching remains OK.)
The FIX (other than re-boot) ...
Follow this route:  Device Manager > USB Controllers > USB Root Hub
(there are several, find the right one, or do 'em all) > Power Management...
then un-check the box "Allow computer to turn off device..."

I'm using my Syba KVM with a wireless receiver ( kbd-mouse combo) on
1 port & a 4-port extender hub ( 2 printers & 1 scanner, all self-powered,
not USB-powered ) on the other port. Computers are a Win8.1 & a
dual-boot Win7-Linux Mint18.

Question 4

Can I keep two computers running at the same time and switch between them without video display disappearing or becoming distorted?  I currently use a switch from another manufacturer and have in fact used one from yet another manufacturer, and with both I have a problem where either the monitor display disappears or the resolution changes.  Consequently, I can't leave both computers powered on at the same time.  Both computers are using Windows 7 OS.

Hello, I am using this with two windows 7 computers. I switch back and forth with no issues. However I am not using it with the monitors, only for the mouse and keyboard. I am sharing 1 mouse and 1 keyboard, with two computers. But each computer has it's own monitor. Hope this helps.

Question 5

I just installed this SYBA KVM switch and left with the question: Is it working as intended or is mine defective/setup wrong? Connected to it I have a PC and a laptop, both running Windows 10.

Both systems run normally before the switch. After switching ALL desktop icons disappear, both screens.  I can move the PC (defaut) cursor over to the laptop but can't open files there or work with the Taskbar or Start Menu items.  The only thing I can do is, if I left a window open on the laptop before switching, I can work with that.  I can also move that active window over to the PC monitor and work with it there.

Is this normal?

That doesn't sound normal to me, and isn't something that has ever happened with my setup.  I am running two desktops with a single monitor/keyboard/mouse - but one is Win7 and the other is still running XP.  Could be something related to Win10 possibly, or could be that it is related to having a laptop with integrated keyboard/mouse.  Not sure what you are trying to do with the switch though - since the purpose is to have a single monitor/keyboard/mouse with two computers.  Having a laptop connected to the switch with a desktop, not sure how that affects the switch.

How do I switch computers? Do I have to unplug one?

No. Te unit plugs into each computer tower with 2 USB plugs and a VGA connector.

Then you connect your monitor, mouse and keyboard to the other side the unit.

There is another small wire that comes off with a button on it that you can stick on or under your desk. Pressing that button switched between each computer.

Question 7

Will this item work without using the monitor connections? I need a KM switch only (no video). I want to use a single keyboard/mouse and switch control between a desktop and a laptop - keeping the monitors separate.

(Some of the software-based solutions will not work because the computers are on two different networks.)

Yes it does in fact work, and very well for a $19 device. You can leave the Video cable completely unplugged from it, and it switches with the push of a button in about 1 second, the KB and Mouse.

I  no longer use the switch but when I was, I was using Linux.  I used the manual button though (not any hotkeys).
