Is USB 3.1 the same as USB Type-C?

NO!! NO!! NO!! Not at all. USB 3.1 is a specification for the device and this SanDisk USB 3.1 device has a USB Type A (4-pin) connector. By convention, the USB 3.x devices have blue plastic parts as the former ones USB 1 and 2 had black ones. The Type-C connector refers to a small connector that is found on telephones, cameras and so on. It will also be found on some USB 3.1 devices and on ALL USB 3.2 and USB4 devices (to be released later this year - 2019). Many android phones now use the Type-C connector which has no "top" or "bottom" so you don't have to fumble with the plug to get the right side up as with the Type-B connector. But THIS SanDisk Flash Drive has a Type-A Male connector. If you need to use with a Type-C socket, there are adapter cables available. See Wikipedia under USB for info on the various connectors. It would appear that the Type-A, B, Mini-A, Mini-B, Micro-A, Micro-B, and so on will all (thankfully) be replaced by the Type-C so all we will have to worry about is Type-C male and Type-C female. No word on Transgender connectors! :-)

Why it it only compatible with Mac 10.7+? What would be the result of running in on Snow Leopard?
