can i use this device to look at the pictures on the sd card in my critter cam?

To answer your question isn't as easy as a yes or no. First your device must be capable of OTG or files on the go. Assuming that it is capable of OTG then you might need software to veiw your files on the sd card. Also you may need to download a driver for the card reader for your spascific device.

So back to your original question yes and no. If your a tech savvy person and know how to configure your device in theory yes. I my self had to do a lot of hunting arround to find out weather my android device would do OTG and after several days the answer was yes then it took me several more days after receiving the card reader to find the drive I needed. And lastly on e I had the driver the card reader and the capabilities of my device then I spent several more days searching reading reviews and testing file reading apps for my device.

I hope that this has helped you out and that I haven't deterred you from your project. Once I had mine all worked out it has been quite rewarding to use as well as fun to play with.

Will this card reader work with my Slate 8 Pro tablet?

I can't say for sure if it will work for your device. I actually bout it for my car stereo so I wouldn't have to use the built in sd card slot.

WILL THIS READER FOR WORK ON MY TABLET?

Hard to say since you don't say which tablet but it worked on my HTC one s phone.(2011 ish )  It will not work on any Apple device since it is a micro usb connection and Apple does't use that. I would think any recent ( 2011 up ) tablet or phone that uses the micro usb port to charge will probably work. My HTC read my 64 gb SD card no problem
using this as it has 16gb built-in storage but no micro sd card slot. Hope this helps. Chris
