Any questions? Our AI beta will help you find out quickly.

Everyone knows the N4200PRO, one of the first Atom D525 based NAS. Thecus is now announcing its proud successor, the N4800, which features dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4x internal SATA connectors. This time, the N4800 will be one of the first Intel Atom D2700 based NAS! Gathering what’s been best for the N4200 series (small summary), the N4800 also has its own fair share of new technologies with no less than 2GB of DDR3 RAM. This very powerful NAS will become a must-have for all small and medium businesses in need of centralized storage, application serving, and top-notch response time within multi-user environments. For the more demanding users, the N4800 will also have its use at home.

USB 3.0: from optional to mandatory

Thecus was the first to launch a NAS compatible with USB 3.0 for early adopters. Now that the technology has matured and more USB 3.0 devices exist on the market, it is time to embed it by default! The N4800 has two USB 3.0 ports, which are up to10 times faster than USB 2.0.

3rd generation Intel Atom CPU: silent power

New Intel Atom D2700 CPU is designed to work without fans. This will dramatically reduce noise and power consumption of the NAS.

Associated with 2GB of DDR3, the new Atom will provide much better performance. Reaching the limits of Gigabit bandwidth on a “small NAS” is already a standard in the industry, thanks to the N4200PRO. But what if you (and you will) want your NAS to give you more? Multi-user environment, web hosting, intense backup, data encryption, application serving, heavy RAID computations, and HD multimedia streaming: welcome to the world of smooth multi-tasking!

HDMI output: removing the middle man

After installing the proper module, just plug in a screen through the HDMI output, a mouse and keyboard on USB ports and the NAS is good to go. You don’t even need computer to check on your NAS! With HDMI output, users can watch videos or browse the Internet directly from their NAS to a monitor. (*will be available with a FW update by end of June.)

Ideal for small installations and/or mobile users, this feature is designed to lower the total cost of ownership of its user’s network architecture.
