Is this 16 TB of memory?

Leeann - The NAS does not come with 16 TB of anything you have to order storage drives for it.   You could order 4 - 4 TB Drives for it but remember if you are doing a RAID configuration on it your going to lose SOME of that space.

Is this compatible with 2.5" hard drives?

Yes, it comes with the proper screws for mounting. Please reference the qnap site for all details, they have great info.

What are drive capacity restrictions?

I currently have WD (red) 3TB Drives in mine due to the cost of the much larger drives.  The QNAP website shows at least one 6TB approved drive and I recommend using their support site guide before buying any drives.   I purchased my unit and drives on NewEgg and have been very happy with performance.  I wanted FAST file transfer and it does it.

Will this model support SATAIII? In the videos it states you can have 16 terabytes but the specs on the website say not??

Definitely okay with 4x 4TB (16TB total) SATA III hard drives; that's exactly the setup I'm using it with (Seagate NAS drives).

I have some serious complaints about this unit, but reliably recognizing the drives is not one of them; if you're okay with the software's capabilities, it'll do what you want.

Does qnap come with a domain?

If you mean whether the Qnap has a domain controller, the answer is no. The qnap can join an existing  domain and use the domain authentication policy. I hope answered your question

Do any of you recommend using this with a Mac network....time machine?

Hello!

I have the DS415+ and am using it with Time Machine on two iMacs. One is hardwired into my router (Ethernet cable), the other is using Wi-Fi from the same router. If you are going to backup via Wi-Fi, I recommend your initial backup be done using an Ethernet cable for speed and to minimize risk of an unsuccessful backup due to any intermittent Wi-Fi signal.

How quick is the WOL function?  Is this an option for file sharing and video streaming?  I would like to use as little power as possible while the unit is idle.

WOL - Not sure how quick. I don't use it. My NAS stays on always since it doesn't use much power.

File sharing and video streaming - if you are looking for a solid sharing and streaming device look elsewhere. Its decent but riddled with issues where you will have to find 3rd party workarounds to use it well. All firmware related for the most part and support is absolutely terrible.
