Question 1

Does this come with 1.6 or 1.2 Ghz CPU? The specs say 1.2 while the box says free upgrade to 1.6Ghz

The one I recently purchased had the 1.6 in it.  Maybe older inventory items would have the 1.2.  Unless you are going to be using it to host a lot of apps then either one is fine (memory would be the biggest bottleneck anyway)

Question 2

What size HDD does it support? And how well does cloud work?  Is there enough security settings?

Had to check the Qnap website myself but it shows that this model supports 4TB HD's, so I would assume that you can do 8TB total, worthwhile checking that the drive your thinking of buying is fully compatible though, info is available on the Qnap website.

I have 3 Qnaps TS-669, TS-220, TS-212 all at different locations, I have replication running between 2 of the boxes.  You can be very granular with your security so I would say that there is enough security for most peoples needs.  I used to manage a checkpoint-1 firewall system so I know pretty well how to lock a system down. YMMV

The specs for this unit say "2 x SATA (2 x Bay)". While it looks like 2 drives could be installed in the bays, there is only one power and one SATA port. How can the 2nd drive be hooked up?

1 drives slides in to the adapter then the 2nd drive hooks in with supplied plugs. Just like any other SATA to motherboard type of connection. Although you have to look at it for a minute and wonder if you bought the correct part, 2 drives works perfectly

no, dont believe this unit offers hotswap capabilities. you could add a hotswap usb external unit as this unit offers usb expandability.

it seems to be very close if have 2 hard drives installed. If I have 2 Black WD drives wouldn't it be too hot?

I would typically hesitate to install 2 blacks in a midgrade PC case since most have bad airflow but in almost any NAS, I wouldnt think its an issue. Every NAS I've seen has a fan that blows directly thru the empty space between both drives and the QNAPs is pretty decent. I t depends on wether you've purchased them already. The NAS will only handle gigbit speed anyway (~110MB/s) and any recent hard drive will go faster than the netowrk speed so if you haven't purchased yet, them I would go for some standard Seagate ST*000DM0*. Ive had nothing but kickbutt performance from the DM02's
