Knowing this is a membrane board, how is the typing experience on it. Closer to a mechanical, or squishy and sticky like a cheep membrane?

Comparing it to my Logitech G105 membrane keyboard, I feel the Corsair K55 is:

- just slightly mushier key action
- quieter when typing on it
- has RGB lighting which makes it match better with desk or pc theme
- functional and nice looking wrist rest
- volume controls for media

I don't find the membrane distracting in any way and not nearly as squishy as my wireless Logitech K360. In my opinion, the Corsair K55 feels pretty good for a membrane keyboard and is still fairly quiet when typing.

Does this have the aluminum frame ?

I'm pretty sure that it does not. It is all plastic construction on the exterior and it does have some flex when you twist it. It is not flimsy or cheap feeling but does not as heavy or stiff as my all plastic Logitech G105. I would recommend the Corsair K55 though, very nice keyboard if you don't prefer mechanical keys.

Can the entire keyboard stay lit as a solid single color or does it constantly do the color changing wave thing I see on all the reviews? Thanks

You can adjust it to one of 8 colors pressing Fn+8. Pressing Fn+ other number changes the lightning effect, but there are only 3 light areas (only 3 areas change colors)

can I change the rgb lighting to an orange color? or is it just typical pre loaded colors?

It is your typical colors.  I must say that this is a awesome keyboard for the money!  It does not have the 3 million colors but the performance is amazing!

Can I remap buttons to do advanced functions using Corsair Utility Engine?

Yes you can.  It’s done under icue.  It’s a very good keyboard.  I’ve had it a going on 2 years no complaints.  The only thing would make it cooler is if you could program more RGB functions.  It still has a wide variety of colors.

Is this product compatible with Corsair Utility Engine? (A Software that allows you to customize lighting on keyboards) If so,Tell me which version to get and whether or not it's CUE 1 or CUE 2. Thank you :)

I believe it doesn't. The only way you can change the colors of the keyboard is with the keyboard functions.

I measured from the keyboard to where the wire goes into the usb plug and it was 70 inches

No... the corsair K55 does not use mechanical switches at all. They are membrane keys, however they are really nice feeling membranes.

Can you turn off the RGB lights completely?

Yeah, there's a button above the top row that cycles through "lights off" and 3 different brightness levels
