It can, but you should make sure that you have a recent HDMI cable, and that your laptop's HDMI output is of a recent HDMI standard as well.

Yes, using mini display port to HDMI or display port on the monitor. You need to download switchresx to get the screen to give you the optimal resolution which is free app.

It says right there, 5ms. It is 5 ms. Its as decent as any gaming monitor I've ever used.

I just bought a new laptop and would be interested in using this as my external monitor in my home office.  However the maximum resolution my new laptop supports is 1920x1080...is there any way to make these two work well together?  Laptop is X11 carbon 3rd gen, so not the easiest to upgrade a video card

I have a Thinkpad W530 which also has a maximum native resolution of 1920x1080. I just plugged in this monitor with the display port and it works perfectly fine. (My laptop doesn't have HDMI out.) I can use both my laptop screen at 1920x1080 and the monitor's ultra wide resolution at 2560x1080 together at the same time. Gives me a lot of real estate to have more windows open at once.

Does the monitor have a glossy finish?

I'm not sure if you want to know if the screen or the body is glossy. The screen is matte finish non reflective, but the plastic body of the monitor is black glossy that shows finger prints very easily. But that's OK really. I have the monitor mounted on a Ergotron mount. It seems very secure.

Sure you could i don't see why not. Should work the same as any other multi monitor setup. It has dvi, hdmi, and display port so it should be possible to run 3 monitors off of 1 video card aslong as all the input/outputs matchup.

Also, can you split the monitor into two screens from same source? i.e. "full screen" gaming one half and open window on the other?
