Question 1

What system specs are needed to play games on this monitor at max ultra resolutions? i have an MSI 790 FX mb, with an AMD Phenom II x4 980 cpu oc'd to 4.0, 8 gb of ram at 1600, and my new Nvidia GTX980.   
  My system has no problem with 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440 but can it handle the the lg 34um95, or maybe even the curved lg97?

Hey,

It really depends on what kind of games you like to play... I have a i5 2500k OC @4.7 ghz, R9 290X & 8 gb ram. I play mostly MMO RPG's. I run games like ff14, League of Legends, warcraft, starcraft & diablo @60fps consistant. I dont max out any games. With this monitor You wont notice if your turn things off, like AA Barely noticable at that high of resoultion. And even shadows I cut that down to medium. Everything else like textures and world details are maxed out.

With that being said games like this new assassins creed unity I get 30 - 40 fps all settings low. Or even watchdogs poor fps. But im sure thats not hardware related = ).

Battlefield 4 was decent 50 -60 fps not maxed. Again with this montior it is so beautiful most games wont have any change to it if you crank the settings up.

When hooking up a Xbox One/PS4 to this monitor is the picture stretched out or shows black lines on side/top?

Some people say it stretches out the picture, from what I understand I should shows black lines on top/side.

The PS4 displays in the center of the screen surrounded by black bars on all sides.  Imagine a 3440 x 1440 screen with a 1080p box in the middle, the game will display in that box.

Question 3

I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these monitors as I was a fan of multi-monitor setups for awhile. Right now I am using a 30" Apple monitor, but I would like the extra screen length with the minimal loss of height going from 1600p to 1440p. I have a 780 with a DP port to use with this so I'm set there. My question is, does this monitor come with a power cord that will work for U.S. power outlets? I was reading around about this monitor and I saw some talk about the power plug being made for Korean power outlets and I would need a special adapter for U.S. outlets.

The version Newegg is selling is the US model which meets US standards and has a standard power connector for this market.

due to low availability creating more demand, looks like 3rd parties are reselling monitors from other markets like korea for a healthy markup.

Question 4

One of the reviews mentioned it caps at 30hz, is that accurate or what is the maximum refresh?

No, not quite accurate. Sorry to say that person does not fully understand what he/she wrote about. The limitation is only on the HDMI ports since they are version 1.4a and so cannot support the full 3440x1440@60Hz. The other ports, Dual Port and Thunderbolt are not limited at all and are able to run full resolution at 60Hz.

In summary, if you really want to take advantage of this display make sure you have a modern video card with Display Port or Thunderbolt connectors.

Also make sure you have long enough cables as the ones included were quite short for my set up. You can find those here at NewEgg or most other major electronics stores.

As for the lightbleed issue others have mentioned, mine does not have any major bleed. It does have a little but no more than any other displays I have had in the past. The bezels on this display are rather thin, so I would guess this has a play in it. Just be pro-active and decide what can you live with and do not hesitate to return if you are disappointed with yours.

Now, there is a newer, curved version of this display. I would recommend you take a good look before deciding which one you want. On normal TVs, curved screens are a gimmik. On PC monitors however they are awesome since you normally sit up close, particularly when gaming.

If you do not care however, this monitor is pure bliss. Other that having to rely on the Flawless Widescreen app for adjusting games that do not support ultra-widescreen setups, there is nothing you will regret about this purchase.

Are these revised batches that have the blacklight bleeding issue fixed?

Backlight bleed was never the issue. It was excessive IPS glow that is orange. The one I have has it badly. The new June ones do not. Hope that helps

I believe they switched to version 2 last fall just before I hot mine from newegg in dec. If I recall correctly, the mfg date was only 3-4 weeks old by the time I got it, so newegg is shipping the latest units. I absolutely love mine for spreadsheets, 3D animation, Photoshop, and Elite Dangerous. I can't go back to the dual /triple monitors.  Get it with a beefy desk mount swing arm,stock base is lame.

so fare very good product i m very happy with it everything that is delivered good resolution very demanding on your GPU to have a decent game play you'll need a SLI system if you wish to play a high resolution i have a little problem make the us ports work but i don't used them but the monitor is a nice investment games that acept this aspect ratio look out of this world this purchase will give you time to build a decent setup for areal 4k or 8k when them became the stander purchase it you wont regret it

Can the monitor switch between HDMI and Thunderbolt? For example, can I connect an Asus laptop via HDMI and a MacBook Pro retina to the Thunderbolt connector and switch between them with a button or something on the monitor?

You can - but its a few clicks.  You click the joystick button in to turn on the menu.  Then Left to go to 'Menu' then right to go 'Easy Control' and then down to 'Input' and then down to 'Thunderbolt' and Click again.

I heard someone bought a different stand for height. Where is that stand and what is the measurement difference?

The included stand is not adjustable but this monitor has a VESA mount so just purchase a desktop monitor arm. With that accessory you can adjust the monitor to whatever height you like. What is the length of the included Displayport cable?

Thanks for the answer. I have DisplayPort on my video card and want to use that. The card is capable of powering the monitor well. Just wasn't sure if I'd need to buy a longer cable because the computer sits next to, not on, the desk.  Six feet should do.
