Question 1

Is the 3D emitter built in or do I purchase one seperate? I notice the picture with the box contents has the 3D glasses so I would assume it is built in. The specs page makes no mention of this though.

This monitor is said to have the emitter built into the display.  I too was curious about this and did some searching online, and although Acer's site is limited with it's specs, every other site that sells this same item or that has reviews of it, has customers stating that the emitter IS built in.   Also, a PC Mag review which was written shortly after this monitor's release (sometime late 2011) also stated that the nVidia kit was NOT required due to the monitor's built in emitter.  I hope this helps & I hope the interwebs is accurate! :)

Question 2

In the description is says it supports nvidia lightboost (something that gives the option to make the screen brighter when wearing 3d glasses.) Can anyone who has purchased this confirm that?

Yes, the Acer HN274H purchased from Newegg supports nVidia Lightboost.

You need to enable "Setup sterioscopic 3D" in the nVidia windows utility. Once 3D is enabled through the nVidia utility - Use the OSD menu on your monitor. Under Settings you will see nVidia 3D / Lightboost support with the ability to make adjustments.

Ok - I charged up the glasses and ran the nVidia utility tests. All checked out. 3D Display looks great! This is using a GTX 670 Ti card
I have not run any 3D games but the sample/test 3D looks real nice.

Question 3

How do I set this monitor to 120hz on my computer? If I go to control panel > display settings > advanced settings > monitor >set monitor refresh rate, the maximum my computer will allow me to set it to is 60hz. I have even unticked the box that says "hide modes this monitor cannot display" and it still doesn't give me the option of setting display to 120hz. I have an r9 270 so I know my gpu handle a 120hz monitor

I found the same issue when I first purchased my monitor and it turned out that it was because I had connected the monitor using an HDMI cord.  Once I switched to a DVI cord the 120hz option appeared.

Im running an Intel Sandyhook I-5 quad core, with a 1 gig geforce gtx 280 gpu, and 8 gig mushkin memory. Will I be able to run the 3d on this? I play new games at ultra graphics, with no lag, but I'm getting mixed messages about whether the card will really do me proud on this screen? I do plan on getting a newer gpu card in the next couple of years, will this screen be the perfect in between until that time?

I have a similar setup, and I do see a frame drop going to 3D mode in most games. My setup is as follows:

i5 3570K
16GB RAM
GTX 280

With all low graphics, I can hit a constant 100fps in BF4. Even with low graphics, however, trying to run in 3D would tank the FPS in firefights down to the 30's.

My suggestion would be to upgrade the GPU to something hotter for 3D, but for all other applications (and gaming) this monitor is as smooth as butter. I could not be happier with my purchase!

while be able to use this hd3d? I want the best 3d monitor I can get but it has work with hd3d. I would like know if you have done review on this monitor too?
