Does the monitor have a removable stand?

Yes, the monitor can be totally separated from the stand by pressing a release button on the back and pulling forward on the bottom of the monitor.

With the monitor in its lowest position, the top of the monitor is 15 1/2 inches from the desktop.  At its highest position, the top of the monitor is 21 1/2 inches from the desktop.

Please confirm that the output connector will work with a DVI-D connection with one pin hole on one side and not the 4 pin holes? We had to return a different monitor when we couldn't fit it and the adapter didn't work.

Yes - can confirm.  DVI-D is the one hole variety; 4 pin holes are DVI-I.  This Acer is DVI-D.

Is this a decent monitor for playing games? Is there noticeable ghosting or anything that would effect playing a first person shooter for example?

I can't really speak to that - the monitor was purchased for my company's accountant. Its a nice monitor but, doesn't really get used for anything with lots of motion.
